Choosing a padlock is mostly about the key, not the lock. How many locks you're buying, who needs access, and whether anyone else should hold a matching key — those decide which type suits.
Here's the short version.
One key opens every lock in your order. The cheapest way to get one key across a site, and available immediately. Best for gates, compounds, containers, site boxes and tool stores. The locks must all be the same size, and other buyers hold the same batch code.
We key these ourselves to a code that's yours alone. Different sizes can go on the one key, and they can be put onto a restricted key system with controlled duplication. Costs more per lock. Best where key control matters.
Each lock has its own key and opens nothing else. Best for issuing locks to individuals, separating access between areas, or buying a single lock.
Set a code and there's nothing to issue, lose or collect back. Best for school and gym lockers, staff lockers and shared storage. Generally lower security than a keyed lock.
